Sergio Perez isolating after 'inconclusive' coronavirus test

Racing Point Reserve Driver: Who will replace Sergio Perez for Silverstone...

Asked for his impressions of Racing Point's much-debated 2020 auto, Hulkenberg replied: "You can see there's huge potential, the vehicle is massively fast".

Who will replace the Mexican racer for the British Grand Prix as he got tested positive for Coronavirus.

Perez tested positive for COVID-19 on Thursday and will now miss Sunday's British Grand Prix after being placed into quarantine.

But drivers and team members were afforded freedom of movement following the Hungarian Grand Prix and ahead of the two races at Silverstone.

Perez said: "I'm extremely sad, definitely one of the saddest days in my career".

"Great effort by the team, I want to thank the team also, the night shift guys have done a great job to fit me in the auto and even quite comfortably, and the FIA for turning it around so fast on the super license".

"I'm extremely sad, it's definitely one of the saddest [moments] of my career, the preparation we put in to this weekend to be 100 per cent ready for it, I knew I had a great vehicle, the team had done a fantastic job".

I have no symptoms at all so it just shows how vulnerable we all are to this virus.

"I followed all of the instructions from the FIA and my team, after Hungary, to take a private plane to Mexico to see my mum for two days as she had a big accident".

'Then I came back to Europe with all the same protocols in place.

New Saline County COVID-19 Cases
Jackson County's previous daily high was reported on July 19, with 16 new cases . That's up from 87,993 reported Wednesday, a 911-case increase.

"As we found out, it can get everybody, but then again it's got a good reaction to it to limit it, to spread anymore, so we just have to be responsible each of us".

Racing Point don't have reserve drivers, but they do have access to those at Mercedes.

Hülkenberg spent the past three seasons driving for Renault's works team, but was left without a drive after losing his seat to Esteban Ocon this year.

"In a bid to minimise disruption and ensure the best possible chance of building upon the team's strong start to the 2020 campaign, Nico's familiarity with the team will prove invaluable".

'In hindsight, and hindsight is a wonderful thing, perhaps we should look at changing the Code of Conduct and say you stay within your bubble for the season, ' said Racing Point team principal Otmar Szafnauer.

"He's certainly being thrown in at the deep end, but he's a fast learner and I'm sure he will get up to speed quickly".

'That is something for the FIA to consider and perhaps that will change but I don't think Sergio did anything wrong by flying back home to Mexico.

"The last 24 hours have been a bit special - and insane and wild".

Gutierrez though has hinted that he could be in line for a return to Formula One with Racing Point.

Following a seat fitting and coronavirus test, the 32-year-old German - whose last on-track outing in F1 came at the 2019 finale in Abu Dhabi - was only cleared to take part 15 minutes before opening practice was due to get underway.
