SpaceX Crew Dragon with two NASA astronauts docks with International Space Station

Contrary to the usual NASA procedure, SpaceX fueled up the Falcon 9 after the two astronauts had already boarded the Dragon.

The mission marks the first time that Americans have launched into space from USA soil in nearly a decade; the last US space shuttle took off from the Kennedy Space Center in 2011. It's also the first private, commercially built manned spaceflight.

The joint NASA-SpaceX collaboration means the United States no longer has to rely on Russian Soyuz launches to move astronauts to and from the International Space Station.

No issues with the spacecraft have been reported - described by a SpaceX commentator as "pretty boring for the astronauts, but that's what we wanted". Then, at about 10:30 AM Sunday eastern time, Hurley and Behnken will arrive at the International Space Station, where the Crew Dragon will engage its new automated docking system. Traveling ~8 km/s (~5 mi/s), Crew Dragon will detach its expendable trunk, perform a several-minute retrograde burn with its Draco thrusters, point its ablative PICA-X heat shield towards its velocity vector, and careen through Earth's atmosphere, reaching spectacularly high temperatures.

Samsung, Huawei see drop, Apple steady as global smartphone sales fall 20%
Huawei , though seeing its YoY sales drop by 6.8 per cent to 54m, came pretty close to Samsung in the race for the number one spot.

But the weather is again a threat at Kennedy Space Center in Cape Canaveral, Florida.

Behnken and Hurley don't know how long they will be on the space station.

Since NASA retired its space shuttle in 2011, it outsourced the job of building its next generation of spaceships to SpaceX and Boeing.

NASA-SpaceX Demo-2 successful separation of the second Falcon 9 stage. SpaceX's test flight named Demo-2 will determine whether the company will begin launching astronauts to ISS in the future.
