Watch SpaceX nail its first on-shore rocket landing in five months

How to Watch SpaceX's First On-shore Rocket Landing Since March

But the evening launch of a Falcon 9 rocket carrying a SAOCOM 1B satellite from Space Launch Complex 40 still remains "GO", SpaceX announced.

SpaceX is aiming to launch 3 rockets on Sunday, including two again-to-back again Falcon 9 launches in Florida and a Starship check flight in Texas, if climate permits.

With the SAOCOM 1B mission organized by SpaceX, the American company launched its 100th rocket.

Unlike most launches from Cape Canaveral, which take advantage of the Earth's spin in order to reach low inclination orbits, the SAOCOM-1B mission flew southward, along the east coast of Florida, along a flight path known as the polar corridor. The last time a mission launched from Florida into a polar orbit was 1969 when the ESSA-9 weather satellite rode into space aboard a Delta E1 rocket.

All earlier Falcon 9s launched from Florida climbed away to the east or northeast.

Liftoff was at 10:31 a.m. ET from SpaceX's launch site at Cape Canaveral Air Force Station in Florida.

Singing superstar Adele has sparked a social media backlash with her latest near-unrecognisable Instagram post. Actress Zoe Saldana also commented, telling the singer "you look right at home guurrrl!".

SAOCOM stands for Satélite Argentino de Observación Con Microondas (Argentine Microwaves Observation Satellite) and is a two-satellite program that costs approximately $600 million including both launches. Falcon 9 and SAOCOM 1B are vertical on SLC-40.

The satellite is part of a two-satellite system. "Next launch opportunity is Tuesday, September 1 at 9:29 a.m. EDT, pending Range acceptance", SpaceX said on Twitter.

It was the first mission to launch to polar orbit from Florida since February 26, 1969.

The first launch was due to carry Starlink satellites up into orbit from NASA's Kennedy Space Center, neighboring Cape Canaveral. The AFTS is created to quickly terminate a flight if an impending catastrophic problem is detected.

Elon Musk's SpaceX company has delayed the launch of its Starlink internet satellites until Thursday. It'll use radar to monitor Earth for disasters that could affect its agricultural, mining and other industries. In all, 58 SpaceX Internet-beaming Starlink satellites were loaded onto the rocket, along with three small probes.
