Northrup Grumman Tests Rocket Boosters For Future NASA Missions On Wednesday

By 2023, the space agency is planning to commence the first manned SLS/Orion mission to the moon. The booster was expected to fire 3.6 million pounds of thrust upon ignition and remain active for 122 seconds, but it will release the exact performance metrics at a later date. During launch, the rocket will produce 8.8 million pounds of thrust, "equivalent to more than 160,000 Corvette engines", as NASA puts it. The rocket fired for two minutes, with the booster performing nominally.

NASA and Northrop Grumman have test-fired a solid rocket booster in Utah that is developed for NASA's Space Launch System (SLS), Futurism reports. Yesterday's test, called Flight Support Booster-1 (FSB-1), builds on prior tests with the introduction of propellant ingredients from new suppliers for boosters on SLS rockets to support flights after Artemis III.

It is also the most powerful launcher since the original Saturn V used during the original Apollo moon missions. On it's first flight-Exploration Mission 1- the SLS Block 1 vehicle will transport an uncrewed Orion spacecraft and a fleet of Cubesats. "Then, we will use what we learn on and around the moon to take the next giant leap -- sending astronauts to Mars".

Engineers successfully performed a test fire of the Space Launch System rocket's full-scale booster on Wednesday afternoon.

2020 elections: NY opens web portal to apply for absentee ballots
LaRose, a Republican, is urging that Ohioans who plan to vote by mail send in their ballot applications as soon as possible. County elections offices around the state have reported already receiving hundreds of thousands of ballot applications.

Each booster is 54m (177ft) long and 4m (12ft) wide, which makes them the largest and most powerful solid boosters ever built.

NASA is working to land the first woman and next man on the Moon by 2024.

"NASA and Northrop Grumman have completed testing for the boosters used for the first three Artemis missions of the agency's lunar program", the digital press kit detailed. Precourt says the motor has the propulsion power needed to get humans on to the moon and Mars. The boosters that will be used to launch Artemis I are now being readied at NASA'sKennedy Space Center in Florida.

Last year, NASA revealed details of its vision for the Artemis Moon Lander that will return American astronauts to the lunar surface.
