Wonder Woman 1984 Is Pushed Back Once Again to December

Wonder Woman 1984 Release Date Moved to December

Warner Bros. has postponed the release of Wonder Woman 1984 to December. Today, it has been delayed from October 2 until Christmas.

According to Deadline, it will now be released on 25 December, 2020 - one week after the planned release of Denis Villeneuve's Dune adaptation. Warner Bros., which released Tenet to decidedly average box office numbers and reviews, also has its DC films to think of.

In addition to movie theaters closing - as theaters in Los Angeles, New York City, Miami and San Francisco are still closed making up 30% of the box office - yesterday saw the tracking revealed for Wonder Woman 1984 which is said to be "like gangbusters", so obviously WarnerMedia wants the flick released in as many theaters as possible. Jenkins noted that she wanted to make sure audiences could see it on the big screen, an activity that's seen several delays because of the novel coronavirus pandemic - and it's still unclear how things will be during the holidays (there are fears covid-19 could see a resurgence during the colder flu season). All three of these films are Warner Bros. releases, and all three have to contend with not just competition from other distributors, but an extremely uncertain viewing public.

Daniil Medvedev into US Open semifinals without dropping set so far
No player in the Open Era has won the US Open men's title without dropping a set. "She played unbelievable. It wasn't easy for Zverev, who dropped the first set against Carreño Busta 6-3, and the second set 6-2.

The first move pushed Wonder Woman 1984 up to November 2019 and the second reimagined the film as a summer blockbuster in June 2020. "With the new date on Christmas Day, we can't wait to spend the holidays with you!"

But the "Wonder Woman 1984" postponement was its own kind of verdict, suggesting the studio doesn't believe current box-office returns can sustain its big-budget releases.

Fast forward to the 1980s as Wonder Woman's next big screen adventure finds her facing two all-new foes: Max Lord and The Cheetah.
