NASCAR driver Bubba Wallace won’t return to Richard Petty Motorsports next season

The 2020 NASCAR Cup Series season will be Darrell "Bubba" Wallace Jr.'s last as driver of the #43 Richard Petty Motorsports Chevrolet.

Wallace explained his decision to leave Petty with the following statement, branding it "not easy" to leave, but believing it was time for someone else to "take over the reins of the No. 43".

The outlet reported that "Wallace has four wins in 497 career Xfinity starts, alongside five wins in 115 starts in Trucks, and has made 197 starts in the NASCAR Cup Series".

Officials did not reveal the details of the offending post, but the rule says drivers can be fined, suspended or terminated for "Public statement and/or communication that criticizes, ridicules, or otherwise disparages another person based upon that person's race, color, creed, national origin, gender, sexual orientation, marital status, religion, age, or handicapping condition".

Wallace notes he's still got 9 more races to drive under the Petty banner before moving on.

RPM says it will announce a new driver soon.

Bahrain, Israel defence ministers hold first phone call
Civil society groups in Bahrain have rejected the government's normalization agreement with Israel which is expected to be signed formally in Washington DC on Tuesday.

Wallace, who finished second in the series with the best finish in the 2018 Daytona 500, did not advance to the playoffs this year and is now ranked 23rd in the season.

The driver was later thought to have been a victim of a racial attack when a noose, a symbol connected to lynching and America's slave history, was found in his garage.

Worth noting, though, Matt Kenseth recently stated during a Sirius/XM NASCAR Radio interview that he would likely not be racing in NASCAR next season.

According to The Athletic, Wallace's contract with RPM expires at the end of the season - and he's simply choosing to explore his options elsewhere.

Among his new partners are Door Dash, Columbia Sportswear Co., Cash App, and a personal deal with Beats by Dre. Much of the sponsorship the team now has is because Wallace is its driver. He's also got an affiliation with McDonald's, one of the sponsors at Chip Ganassi Racing.

A move away from RPM likely signals that Wallace is going to a more competitive team. "We look forward to the next chapter in the making for the iconic No. 43 team".
