Man Escapes Cougar: 'Dude, I Don't Feel Like Dying Today'

Frightening video shows hiker being chased by cougar 'I don't feel like dying today'

The mother cougar stalked him - hissing, growling and threatening - as Burgess backed away, keeping his eyes locked on her. "Once I did realize what they were, I was like, that's mom right there".

Burgess began his filming after he spotted the cougar and one of the cat's cubs and walked towards them, presumably to capture the ideal shot.

"Come on dude, I don't feel like dying today".

"Go away, I'm big and scary", said Burgess in the video.

Kyle Burgess, 26, was walking back from a trail run at Slate Canyon when he saw some cubs in front of him, closely followed by their protective mother, who was not happy to see him.

As soon as he recognizes the mountain lion is hot on his trail, he starts to backpedal slowly, trying not to startle the beast or trigger it to pounce - but it did rush at him several times!

Amazingly, Burgess came away totally unharmed after he picked up a rock and hurled it at her.

The video, which is more than five minutes long, sees the cougar walk the man away from its cubs. According to the Deseret News, a local official with Utah's Division of Wildlife Resources, Scott Root, told Burgess: "You did awesome".

"Even though I don't think she was out to get him, she wanted to make sure he was not in that area".

This adult female cougar was not happy to encounter USA trail-runner Kyle Burgess. She let him know very well that you need to get out of here, and he did that, ' he said.
