Colts Close Facility After Multiple Positive Coronavirus Tests

Williams, who won't play Sunday, did not test positive but had close contact with someone who did, according to the NFL Network.

Earlier Friday, the Indianapolis Colts closed their practice facility after "several individuals" tested positive for COVID-19, then the retests came back negative and the building reopened.

The NFL has allowed teams in some instances to play games after a single positive test if there is no evidence of widespread transmission of the virus. The game is scheduled for Sunday in Foxborough, Massachusetts, but now could be in jeopardy.

Jacksonville chose to hold football activities remotely Saturday as part of NFL protocols. It could benefit the team that it typically separates practice-squad players from those on the 53-man roster, creating an extra level of protection to help prevent an outbreak. Ferentz has been placed on reserve/COVID-19 list.

Elsewhere, the Jacksonville Jaguars said Saturday a practice-squad player tested positive. The NFL already has been forced to reschedule 12 games caused by postponements and delays due to positive tests of the novel coronavirus among team personnel.

The Falcons closed their facility on Thursday after a positive test, but are expected to be back in the building Friday as long as no other positive results come back from the latest round of tests.

Quarterback Cam Newton and cornerback Stephon Gilmore participated in the Patriots' practice Thursday after being activated from the covid-19 reserve list.

The 0-5 Falcons are scheduled to play the Minnesota Vikings on Sunday.
