The California Supreme Court ruled that Scott Peterson's 2004 murder convictions because of his pregnant wife, Laci, and unborn child, Connor, should be reexamined.

Scott Peterson, a former San Luis Obispo resident, met Laci Peterson while both were attending Cal Poly.

Laci Peterson had disappeared on Christmas Eve in 2002, when she was due to give birth in 4 weeks. Scott Peterson told police he had left their Modesto home that morning to go fishing in Berkeley.

Prosecutors contended that Peterson dumped their bodies from his fishing boat into San Francisco Bay, where their bodies washed ashore almost four months later. A passerby walking a dog found them a few miles from where Scott Peterson said he had gone fishing.

In August, the California Supreme Court overturned Peterson's death sentence, which he had been given after being convicted of murdering his wife and unborn son.

It is still to be seen what will happen in the case, now that a re-examination has been ordered.

Wall Street falls on dimmed stimulus hopes
On the other hand, Bank of America Corp slipped 2.3% and Wells Fargo & Co shed 1.6% after the lenders reported a slump in profit. Walgreens stock shot up 4.8% as the company exceeded its expected fourth-quarter profit due to increased sales at US pharmacies.

The state Supreme Court responded by finding one matter warranted additional review. She was not even involved in any legal proceedings.

"The court arranged, on Wednesday, October 14, the case have sent back into the San Mateo County Superior Court to ascertain whether Peterson, 47, ought to be given a new trial on the premise that a juror" committed prejudicial misconduct by not revealing her previous engagement with other legal proceeding, such as but not confined to become the victim of a crime", according to this Los Angeles Times.

The juror, Richelle Nice, did not disclose she had obtained a restraining order against her boyfriend's ex-girlfriend for harassing her when she was pregnant. Nice was initially an alternate juror in Peterson's trial, but she replaced a discharged juror during deliberations. She published a book with several other jurors about their experience during the 2004 trial.

His attorneys have previously claimed Nice deceived the judge to get on the jury for the high profile case. They claim she was too willing to be on the jury!

The state's Supreme Court noted that the trial judge made a number of clear and important errors in jury selection.

When requested as a possible juror whether or not she had ever been a sufferer of against the law or concerned in a lawsuit, she mentioned she hadn't, Peterson's attorneys advised the LA Occasions.
