National Basketball Association 2K21 Now Has Unskippable In-Game Advertising

‘NBA 2K21’ has just received the most irritating update: unskippable ads

National Basketball Association 2K21 now has ads running during its pre-game loading screens (thanks, Stevivor).

National Basketball Association 2K21 is available for Xbox One, PlayStation 4, and PC, and due to hit Xbox Series X|S and PlayStation 5 from 10th November. The advert now running is for the Oculus Quest 2 and appears to be attached to the in-game 2K produced online video-series 2KTV Episode 7. Typically an "Edit Lineup" or other option arrives on the bottom corner of the screen with a button to press.

2K has not made any statements in regards to the backlash so far. User Chaz Maas wrote, "This is the #1 reason why I haven't touched the series in years".

"Good Job 2k more commercials in next Years Version please. And I don't even have time to play games anymore".

The move has caused controversy since its addition, not least because the game is still retailing at full price. 2K have been the worst for it, but EA were also caught adding in-game adverts to UFC 4, before quickly rolling back that change.

Activision announces great news for Call of Duty fans
This should allow players the chance to experience all attachments across the beta and build out loadouts in the Gunsmith. Fixed a crash that could occur when players joined a Fireteam: Dirty Bomb match and were assigned an invalid team.

"It is abundantly clear from your feedback that integrating ads into the Replay and overlay experience is not welcome".

This has been alerted by some North American users and media, who find that both on Xbox One and on Playstation 4 there is advertising that, until the player can not press the continue button, they can not skip it.

Microtransactions has become something of a bogeyman feature when it comes to video games for being both intrusive and an egregious way for companies to make even more money off gamers who had paid full price for a game.

People today are becoming more and more engaged to gaming, especially with the ongoing coronavirus crisis.
