Liverpool star Gini Wijnaldum blasts Jordan Pickford for Virgil van Dijk tackle

Liverpool have to give Van Dijk a team challenging for honours on return - Henderson

Georginio Wijnaldum said the tackles Liverpool were subject to in Saturday's Merseyside derby were "unacceptable" and said the players all had sleepless nights after seeing their talismanic defender Virgil Van Dijk was forced off with a potentially season-ending injury.

"When we were speaking with the lads after Saturday, I think none of the players slept after what happened with Virgil, because of the way it happened".

I don't believe Pickford was actively trying to hurt Van Dijk, and end his season - it was just stupidly reckless and worthy of a three-game ban.

"Of course we are upset", Wijnaldum fumed.

He confessed his "mistake" seconds later as the Everton player picked up although he began their conversation by mentioning Richarlison's red card tackle and asking him: "What happened yesterday?" In my opinion, they take it way too far in the games we play against them.

"It is a really hard one to take and hard for the team".

Merseyside Police are investigating after a series of offensive tweets were sent to Pickford and team-mate Richarlison following injuries to Van Dijk and Thiago Alcantara.

Maxwell loses bid to keep sworn testimony under wraps
Epstein, according to Mersey, wouldn't land in Atlantic City at Trump's request, saying the city was full of "white trash". Ties to Epstein have always been a source of embarrassment for Trump.

"Accidents can always happen in football".

That pretty much confirmed the great time he's been having both for club and country, but things changed a little in the past few days.

"The way they were doing it [tackling] was completely unacceptable".

"It makes it harder that they don't get punished".

Liverpool captain Jordan Henderson says the loss of Virgil van Dijk is a "big blow" but he wants the Premier League champions to use his absence as an added incentive to stay in the trophy hunt.

"He had really big performances and is important not only on the pitch, but a leader inside the team". Since he came in we had really good results.
