The former San Francisco 49ers star has been sentenced to 15 years to life in prison for raping a mentally disabled woman in a 2015 incident, court officials tell TMZ Sports.

Stubblefield's attorney, Allen Sawyer, said his client would appeal the sentencing.

He was convicted in July after a nine-month trial in which a jury found him guilty of rape by force, oral copulation by force, and false imprisonment after having lured the woman to his home with the promise of babysitting work.

Starting in 1993, Stubblefield played in the NFL as a defensive tackle when he won NFL Defensive Rookie of the Year with the 49ers.

Stubblefield played in the National Football League for the 49ers (1993-97, 2001-02), the then-Washington Redskins (1998-2000) and the then-Oakland Raiders (2003). He returned to the Bay Area to finish his career, playing with the 49ers in 2000-01 and the Raiders in 2003. Stubblefield's defense team reportedly disputed the prosecution's timeline and contended that Doe was returning to Stubblefield's home for a paid sexual encounter.

After conducting an interview with her at his home in Morgan Hill, California on April 9, 2015, he texted the woman asking her to return to the house so he could pay her for her time. Doe had said that when she returned, he gave her $80, then locked the front door and carried her into a first-floor bedroom and assaulted her. The woman reported the attack to authorities and Stubblefield was arrested in May 2016. DNA evidence matched that of Stubblefield.

Prosecutors argued the woman was "incapable" of giving consent because of a mental disorder and developmental and physical disabilities.

During the trial, Deputy District Attorney Tim McInerney also called on the testimony of two women who testified to being assaulted by Stubblefield.
