South Australia to end lockdown early, infected employee lied

Adelaide Strikers captain Travis Head at Coffs Harbour International Stadium

Despite needing to trace and isolate a whole new group of close contacts, Mr Marshall has announced the state will begin relaxing restrictions, with family groups allowed to exercise together effective immediately.

"We are absolutely livid with the actions of this individual and we will be looking very carefully at what consequences there [are] going to be", Mr Marshall added.

The captain of the Adelaide Strikers says the team is relieved to be training on the New South Wales Mid North Coast after a "mad rush" to escape South Australia's COVID-19 lockdown in the lead up to the summer cricket season.

'This selfish actions of this individual have put our whole state in a very hard situation.

The state is trying to contain the widespread of the novel coronavirus after twenty-three people in the state capital Adelaide got infected by a cleaner who was responsible for helping people quarantine when they arrive in the state from across the borders.

"As of midnight Saturday, we will be reverting to a series of restrictions which are very similar to the ones that were imposed at the beginning of this week".

Nevertheless, the premier said the move to lift the lockdown early would proceed with SA largely moving to a one person to every four square metres density requirement.

Funerals of up to 50 people will be permitted and weddings will return to an allowance of 150, but there will be no dancing or "vertical consumption".

Groups of 50 will be allowed in public.

Gatherings in private residences will be restricted to 10 people.

The dishonest kitchen-hand working at the pizza bar was also a security guard at the medi-hotel.

Commissioner Stephens said the initial false statement made by the man claiming he had simply purchased pizza from the shop was what prompted authorities to consider the full lockdown.

The changes will allow most businesses to reopen from midnight tomorrow and schools will resume next week.

Another 44 people are suspected to have the virus but are waiting on test results.

It will remain in place until Sunday when a permit system is implemented.

"The first outcome from this lie is we went into a six-day lockdown", he said.
