CDC Cancels Thanksgiving: Agency Advises Against Holiday Travel Amid COVID Surge

CDC recommends Americans do not travel for Thanksgiving amid spike in COVID-19 cases

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention is urging Americans not to travel for the Thanksgiving holiday amid the coronavirus crisis.

Questions include: Are you, someone in your household, or someone you will be visiting at increased risk for getting very sick from COVID-19?

With COVID-19 cases spiking across the country, the CDC says it's time people start rethinking their Thanksgiving plans, and that starts with not traveling over the holiday period. "Postponing travel and staying home is the best way to protect yourself and others this year", the new guidelines state. Are cases high or increasing in your community or your destination?

What was dripping down Rudy Giuliani's face?
It was a claim made by the Trump campaign in an election-related lawsuit, but the lawsuit was withdrawn on November 18, 2020. The speech wasn't anything different than what Giuliani and Trump himself have been saying since Biden won.

COVID-19 cases have been surging across the U.S. According to the CDC, the average number of daily cases in the last 7 days increased 43% compared to the previous 7 days, with 94% of the U.S. seeing jump in cases. Do your plans include traveling by bus, train, or air which might make staying 6 feet apart hard? COVID-19 cases are rising exponentially across the country and hospitals in parts of the Midwest and the West, in particular, are once again close to full capacity.

For those not traveling but still planning to attend a gathering, health officials recommend that it be with only members of their immediate household - or those who have been living together already for at least two weeks. Whether people are hosts or guests, the CDC urges limiting their numbers, holding gatherings outdoors, thorough cleaning and disinfecting, and having guests bring their own food and beverages. Including when you use public transportation and when you're around people you don't live with.

Walke then issued a strong advisory against traveling for Thanksgiving.
