As part of the transaction, the Celtics will receive the better draft pick between Houston's second round selection in 2023, and whichever 2023 second round draft pick is worst between Memphis or Dallas.
Kanter's departure opens more playing time for third-year big man Robert Williams, who was slowed by a hip injury for most of last season but showed promise during the NBA's restart in Orlando. In his lone season in Boston, Kanter mostly came off the bench, averaging 8.1 points and 7.1 rebounds in 16.9 minutes per game. He helped the Trail Blazers reach the Western Conference Finals, where they were swept by the Golden State Warriors.
