Four terrorists killed, 2 SOG men injured in Jammu encounter

J&K: Four terrorists gunned down in Nagrota district

The gunbattle erupted at 4.20am local time (22:50 GMT on Wednesday) after the truck in which the suspected rebels were travelling was intercepted by security personnel near a toll plaza, paramilitary force spokesman Moses Dinakaran said.

The encounter was underway till last reports came in, they said, adding that four terrorists are believed to be in the vehicle.

Police said suspected rebels fired at the checkpoint on the main highway linking Jammu and Srinagar, the capital of Indian-administered Kashmir, after which security forces returned fire. Security has also been tightened in the Nagrota area. We have recovered 11 AK rifles from the truck, 29 grenades, 3kgs RDX, mobile phone handsets, radio sets, medicines, ration supplies, etc, he added.

The terrorists are suspected to have infiltrated through the worldwide border somewhere near Samba district of Jammu and boarded the truck with a cache of arms, ammunition and Pakistan made medicines. The terrorists, who were hiding in a truck, were killed near the Ban toll plaza on the highway of the union territory in the early hours of Thursday.

In January, three terrorists were killed by the security forces.

Pakistan has been warning the global community since previous year about India government's intention to launch a false flag operation against it in a bid to divert the world's attention from its illegal action of revoking the IIOJK's autonomy and human rights violations being committed by occupation forces in the disputed Himalayan territory.

"Shakargarh from where the terrorists have infiltrated is the headquarters of the Pakistani Rangers and hence complicity of the Rangers can't be ruled out".

According to the police, the truck driver managed to flee the spot. It appears their modus operandi was something big and they were on way to Kashmir valley.

Top sources have also revealed a brief exchange of fire at the global border around the route of infiltration that triggered an initial alarm at about midnight, the same time when terrorists sneaked inside Indian territory.

"Despite the tenuous security situation and Pakistan's efforts, the DDC polls will be held as scheduled", a Home Ministry official said.
