Clippers make draft night trade with Pistons official

Clippers Send Landry Shamet To Nets, Receive Luke Kennard, Pistons Get No. 19

The 31-year-old was traded to the Raptors back in February 2017 from the Orlando Magic in exchange for Terrence Ross and a first-round draft choice.

Thanks to landing the No. 19 overall pick, the Pistons will now receive the rights to former Villanova Wildcats forward Saddiq Bey.

All three of those names are players who do their damage mostly from the perimeter.

Kennard arrived as part of a deal that sent guards Landry Shamet to Brooklyn and Rodney McGruder to Detroit as the Clippers attempt to improve the supporting cast around Kawhi Leonard and Paul George. The Clippers will be his fifth team, at least for now, should he be moved in the future. Over 28 games, the 6-foot-6 lefty averaged career-highs in points (15.8), assists (4.1) and rebounds (3.5) as a starter for Detroit.

The Pistons had three of the top 19 picks in this draft.

All three players have the same defining skill and are at different points in their careers, so the trade is more reflective of where each team now finds itself.
