Toronto Raptors to begin upcoming season playing out of Tampa Bay | Offside

Fred VanVleet

It's back to the Sunshine State for the Toronto Raptors.

Raptors Kyle Lowry congratulated VanVleet with a post on Instagram, saying "Bet on yourself!"

Dr. Andrew Morris, a professor of infectious diseases at the University of Toronto and the medical director of the Antimicrobial Stewardship Program at Sinai-University Health Network, said the Canadian government made the right decision.

By agreeing to terms with VanVleet, considered the prime free-agent point guard on the market, the Raptors sent a signal they are serious about maintaining the core of the team over the next few years.

The Raptors had repeatedly said securing VanVleet was their biggest off-season task, and they'd been quietly confident they'd be successful.

VanVleet was undrafted coming out of college at Wichita State and thrived under the tutelage of then head coach Dwane Casey and with the team's patience in letting players grow into their potential.

Time To Watch The June 2020 Strawberry Full Moon In Florida
South Africans across the country captured last night's Strawberry Full Moon - 5 June 2020 - in attractive and creative photos. The color of the Moon near mid-eclipse may take on a tea-colored appearance, instead of its usual pearly, bone-white hue.

Kansas City officials and congressional leaders from Kansas and Missouri had sought to bring the Raptors to Kansas City, offering the downtown T-Mobile Center as a temporary home for the team during the pandemic.

The fourth year of his deal will reportedly be a player option, with his salary dipping by 8% in Year 2 (2021-22) to preserve Toronto's cap space ahead of a bolstered 2021 free agency class, according to Sportsnet's Michael Grange.

Coach Nick Nurse rewarded VanVleet's growth by starting him for all 54 of his regular-season appearances in 2019-20. VanVleet's four-year deal will run through the 2023-24 campaign, in parallel with the extension that Pascal Siakam inked with the team last year.

Raptors president of basketball operations Masai Ujiri made those plans official on Friday. The league's other 15 teams will all go there once.

Either way, the Raptors still have work to do.
