
The NSE Nifty closing at 13055, up 128.7 or 1 percent while BSE Sensex stood strong by 445.87 points at 44523.
During the session, Sensex hit a lifetime high of 44,601 and Nifty touched record high of 13,079. A strengthening rupee further boosted investor confidence, they added.
Similarly, the broader NSE Nifty touched the 13,000 mark for the first time ever as it rose 76.65 points or 0.59% to 13,003.10. Axis Bank was the top gainer in the Sensex pack, surging around 4 per cent, followed by M&M, HDFC Bank, ITC, SBI, ICICI Bank, Maruti, Kotak Bank and Sun Pharma.
Reliance Industries advanced 3 per cent after the country's fair trade regulator approved its deal to buy Future Group's retail assets. However, major financial stocks declined after new recommendations by the Reserve Bank of India (RBI).
Indian markets ended Monday's session with a gain of almost half a per cent with Nifty and Sensex closing above the key psychological level of 12,900 and 44,000, respectively.
