This is another addition to the company's RealSense product line with depth perception capabilities.
Intel has launched a new on-device facial recognition system. Intel says that the chance of unlocking a computer with RealSense ID is one in a million. Instead, the new module will offer facial authentication on ATMs, airport kiosks and checkpoints at establishments.
The Santa Clara, California-based chipset giant said its new RealSense ID camera system combines an active depth sensor with a specialized neural network created to deliver secure, accurate and user-aware facial authentication.
According to Intel, the new RealSense ID technology uses a depth sensor with a specialized neural network powered by the company's machine learning-based solutions. Intel says the system adapts to the user's face over time, as it can interpret changes in facial hair and whether the user is wearing glasses.
US Pharmacist Who Destroyed Vaccines Was "Conspiracy Theorist"
Experts say there is no evidence at all to suggest they alter human DNA, and millions have been inoculated using these vaccines. She added that, along with weapons in rental units, he was storing food in bulk and she no longer felt comfortable around him.
Intel RealSence ID works in various lighting conditions for people with a wide range of heights or complexions. This is another claim similar to Apple's Face ID and we can now see a competitor. Apple also claimed that the likelihood of a random person unlocking the iPhone Face ID use is also one in a million. RealSense started as a Kinect-style camera for touch-free interaction, but RealSense ID seems like Intel's attempt to reposition its camera business towards secure, on-device facial recognition first, while also potentially putting the company in the crossfire of controversy.
"The solution is also only activated through user awareness and will not authenticate unless prompted by a pre-registered use", Intel said. As with any Intel technology, we work to ensure the ethical application of RealSense and the protection of human rights, "Intel said in a press briefing". This means that the facial authentication software works during both day and night hours. Intel RealSense ID F450 Module, on the other hand, is available in a 10-pack and is priced at $750 (roughly Rs. 55,100).
The technology involves the use of an active depth sensor with a neural network, a dedicated system-on-chip, and an embedded secure element to make the whole process a lot safer and to encrypt user data locally.
With its RealSense ID technology, Intel wants to contribute to identity verification technology by aiming to protect businesses and individuals against identity theft and security breaches.
