More Monster Hunter Rise Details Revealed, Demo Later Today

Monster Hunter Rise limited-time demo launches today; 'Wyvern Riding' trailer and latest details

The Shrine Ruins location will be the primary setting for this Monster Hunter Rise demo, and players can utilize the new Wirebug mechanic.

Beginning tonight in North America and offered throughout the month of January, a Monster Hunter Rise demo will be available as a free download from the Nintendo eShop for Nintendo Switch™, serving hungry hunters around the world their first taste of the highly-anticipated new entry in the storied franchise.

As you might expect, there are plenty of new monsters coming to Monster Hunter Rise. This is considering all of the brand new monsters as well as the cool abilities have been revealed so far. It uses its belly to glide around the snow like a sled, so you'll need to be quick on your toes to deal with it. In addition to the previously-announced monsters, these seasoned threats will also make their presences known: Lagombi, Khezu, Great Baggi, Barioth, Mizutsune, and Tigrex.

One of the areas you'll be hunting in is called the Frost Islands. The spikes on its front paws and tail are actually scale that it uses to freely move around on icy surfaces. The bubbles will slow you down, so be sure not to run into them.

As far as first impressions go, Monster Hunter Rise seems to be scaling new heights.

That wasn't the last announcement though. According to Capcom, each online player needs their own Nintendo Switch and their own copy of the demo. It's a curated experience, with only two hunts available. The Basic Training quest will teach these aforementioned skills, and the Wyvern Riding quest introduces the new Wyvern Riding mechanic.

While remnants of TC Imogen could reach the Whitsundays, the system is not expected to have much impact on Central Queensland . The BOM has warned that winds are likely to increase to around 100km/h and bring heavy rainfall and abnormally high tides.

While this is clearly great news for Monster Hunter fans, there is one major drawback about the upcoming demo.

Yasunori Ichinose, the director of Monster Hunter Rise, states that anyone playing the demo will be able to experience all 14 weapon types in local and online co-op. There are more that you will encounter in each quest beyond the Great Izuchi and Mizutsune, which I think's best that I leave as a surprise for you to discover for yourself.

Players are able to engage in up to 30 quest attempts as part of the demo.

The digital event live stream, wyvern riding trailer, a pair of 101 videos, press release in full, screenshots, and artwork can all be found below. You'll then have until 1st February to play, at which point it will be taken offline.

Monster Hunter Rise will release exclusively for Nintendo Switch worldwide on 26th March 2021. The game will have both a standard ($59.99) and a deluxe edition ($69.99), the latter having cosmetic items to justify the extra coin. There will also be three amibo released for the game: a Palico, a Palamute (the dog version of a Palico), and the Magnamalo. Each will come with a special layered armor set (cosmetic armor) that can be used in Monster Hunter Rise.
