Freezing rain, sleet create treacherous driving conditions in Maine

More winter weather on the way

For much of central Kentucky this looks to be a mostly snow event that begins as some very light snow Wednesday afternoon and wraps up Friday.

The precipitation may start out as a mix of sleet, freezing rain, or snow then transition to a cold rain across our southeastern counties by late in the day as temperatures slowly warm.

The National Weather Service has issued a Winter Storm Watch for Schuylkill and surrounding counties.

The National Weather Service has issued a winter storm watch for parts of New Jersey ahead of a significant snowstorm expected to arrive in the state tomorrow morning.

"Preliminary snow [forecast] remains 4-8", but stretched over a 36 [hour] period from Thursday into Friday night", the National Weather Service said on Twitter early Wednesday morning.

NY police flood subway after spate of stabbings leaves 2 dead
In the meantime, Shea said the deployed officers will be there as long as needed to ensure that New Yorkers feel safe. Two hours later, a 44-year-old woman was found stabbed to death in the subway in upper Manhattan.

So the first necessary element for a snowstorm is in place - it's plenty cold, with the expected high of 30 on Wednesday a full 10 degrees below normal, according to National Weather Service statistics from Lehigh Valley International Airport.

AccuWeather Senior Meteorologist Paul Walker said area residents should prepare before the weather gets worse. Snow amounts up to 2 inches. Winds will be on the brisk side out of the northeast around 10 to 20 miles per hour and gusting. "Generally just a light coating to a tenth of an inch, but still any ice creates havoc", she added.

We'll have yet another hard freeze on Friday morning with low in the low 20s. Chance of precipitation 40 percent. Lows near 15. Northwest winds 5 to 10 miles per hour. "We're going to have another one coming late Thursday and into Thursday night".

Saturday: Partly cloudy. Highs in the mid 40s. Lows in the mid 30s.
