Prince Philip, 99, has been admitted to a London hospital after feeling unwell, Buckingham Palace says.
The Duke, 99, was admitted to the King Edward VII Hospital in London, on Tuesday evening but is said to be "in good spirits".
He is expected to remain there "for a few days of observation and rest".
The last time he was seen in public he seemed in good health, standing unaided - and he walked into hospital on Tuesday evening, having travelled there by auto. It was not an emergency admission.
The stay in hospital is purely precautionary and the illness is not COVID-19 related. Philip had been feeling unwell for a short period and the doctor was called, according to the royal source.
The couple have been spending the coronavirus lockdown in England at Windsor Castle with a small household staff, nicknamed HMS Bubble.

In 2011, he was rushed to a hospital by helicopter after suffering chest pains and treated for a blocked coronary artery.
The revelation caused shockwaves at the palace, amid confirmation that Winfrey could ask "anything she wants".
Prince Philip and Queen Elizabeth celebrated their 73rd anniversary last November.
