New Zealand slams Australia for stripping IS detainee of citizenship

‘Tired of Australia exporting its problems’: Ardern denounces Morrison over detainee in Turkey

New Zealand has criticized Australia for revoking the citizenship of an alleged Islamic State affiliate in Turkey.

She is also a citizen of Australia and has not lived in New Zealand since she was six years old, but the Australian government revoked her citizenship, according to New Zealand Prime Minister Jacinda Ardern.

"Coming to New Zealand, where they have no immediate family, would not be in their best interests". However, Australia seems to be backing away from taking her responsibility.

Talking to media yesterday, Ardern said Australia's abdicated its responsibilities and she's personally made that point to Morrison.

In an unusually blunt message to her counterpart Scott Morrison, Ardern said Canberra was "wrong" to expect New Zealand to accept the woman, who she said had strong ties to Australia.

"If the shoe were on the other foot, we would take responsibility". That's just not the right thing to do.

"We do not want to see terrorists who fought with terrorism organizations enjoying privileges of citizenship, which I think they forfeit the second they engage as an enemy of our country", Morrison said.

"It's my job as Australia's prime minister to put Australia's national security interests first", he told a press conference.

On Tuesday night, the pair held an emergency phone call which Ms Ardern's spokesman described as "constructive".

US charges three North Koreans in $1.3 billion hacking spree
The overall amount of money stolen by the hackers is not clear because in some cases the thefts were either halted or reversed. It also unsealed a charge against a Canadian-American for suspected involvement in the laundering of stolen funds.

"It took a lot of courage for many of these family members to join an global coalition", Letta Tayler, a senior researcher at Human Rights Watch, which is supporting calls for repatriations, told MEE at the time.

Ms Ardern said she raised the issue with Mr Morrison a year ago, but that New Zealand's concerns had been brushed aside.

ABC reporter Dylan Welch, speaking to Radio NZ, said Ms Aden was "a sorry young woman".

"After 20 years of a NZDF presence in Afghanistan, it is now time to conclude our deployment", she said in a statement.

As a normal part of the justice process, as would be the case for any other crime, the woman in this case should go through a rehabilitation and deradicalisation process to ensure that she is able to be a good parent to her children.

"It's a hard question when people label someone a terrorist because they lived under an organisation described as a terrorist organisation", he said.

The woman was identified only by her initials, S.A.

"(Some women in her position) don't intend to join Islamic State. they were lured there or tricked there.
