The US government will pledge $US4 billion ($5.2 billion) to a vaccination program for developing countries at the G7 global economic summit later today, in the hope that other countries will follow suit and contribute additional funds, United States officials say.
All country facility participants must issue national regulatory authorization for the vaccines in question, a process which can be expedited by issuing special authorizations for use based on granting of World Health Organization (WHO) Emergency Use Listing (EUL). "Decreasing the burden of disease decreases the risk to everyone in the world, including Americans".
But Mr Biden, who announced last week that the U.S. will have enough supply of the vaccine by the end of the summer to inoculate 300 million people, remains focused for now on making sure every American is inoculated, administration officials have said.
Apart from the power of money and the ability of the rich to acquire more, a problem that exists both at the global level and within countries themselves, there has to be an effort to ensure that the poor can also receive the vaccine without major hassle. Former President Trump had responded to the pandemic by trying to isolate Americans with travel bans, and withdrew from the World Health Organization to protest what he described as Chinese influence.

While Washington shrunk from the global stage in recent years, Beijing and Moscow have used the pandemic as an opportunity to expand their influence by marketing their vaccines to other countries in Asia and Latin America. Meanwhile the United States will see a surplus of 453 million and the European Union roughly 464 million. But while there are expected to be enough vaccines available to inoculate every American by summer's end, many countries may need to wait years for enough doses for their populations.
Donald Trump's Atlantic City Hotel and Casino Demolished
Short-term plans call for the site to be paved to provide new parking while a permanent development project is considered. Opened in 1984, the Plaza was Trump's first property on the famed Atlantic City Boardwalk.
COVAX "is one of the best ways to expand access to COVID vaccines", the Biden official told Politico.
"When we have a sufficient supply it is our intention to consider donating surplus vaccines, absolutely", said one official.
If the coronavirus is allowed to spread uncontrolled anywhere on the planet, it has a higher chance of mutating into new strains that can evade existing vaccines.
There has been pressure on Biden to donate a percentage of the USA vaccine allotment to poorer countries, including from France's Emmanuel Macron.
French President Emmanuel Macron, in an interview Thursday with the Financial Times, called on the U.
Adopted on July 1, 2020 the resolution is part of the U.N.'s response to the pandemic, demanding "a general and immediate cessation of hostilities in all situations on its agenda", while calling on all parties engaged in armed conflicts to "engage immediately in a durable humanitarian pause for at least 90 consecutive days".
