Minister: People are paying to be vaccinated -- NOT necessary

Covid-19 vaccine

The minister, in a press conference, said, " It has been decided that from 1st April, the vaccine will open for everybody above 45 years of age.

The United States is the country that has registered the most deaths from Covid-19 in the world so far, with nearly 542,000.

"Some of the information reaching us from the states is that there are reports of alleged vaccine mismanagement in some vaccination sites like the one reported at the Police Clinic, Falomo in Lagos State".

"This decision has been taken by cabinet on the basis of the advice of the coronavirus Task Force and experts", said Mr Javadekar.

So far, 4.84 crore doses of the corona vaccine have been administered in the country. Vaccines are available in adequate quantity.

As a reflection of the special bonds of trust and understanding between India and Bhutan that have existed over decades, the Indian government had earlier handed over ten consignments of medical supplies, one portable X-Ray machine, essential medicines and medical equipment in addition to the vaccine consignments.

Another decision taken, on the advice given by scientists and world scientist bodies, was that the second dose of vaccine can be administered between fourth and eighth week, particularly for Covishield, he said.

"One has to continue using masks and maintaining social distancing and washing hands is also important, but vaccination is the only shield", he noted.

Donald Trump just 'months' away from social media platform debut - adviser
Trump also endorsed Arkansas Lieutenant Governor Tim Griffin (R), who is running to be the state's attorney general. Trump has been relatively quiet since he was banished from the largest social media platforms.

Osagie Ehanire, minister of health, has raised the alarm over COVID-19 vaccine racketeering at some vaccination centres in Nigeria.

"We've been very concerned because the state has put a lot of emphasis on mass vaccine distribution sites and trying to stand up more points of distribution and we feel like they've got the cart before the horse", he said.

The COVID-19 Technical Advisory Committee (TAC) has recommended to the State government that senior citizens and people above the age of 45 years with co-morbidities who are in containment zones and test negative for COVID 19 should be given preference in getting the vaccination.

Maharashtra Health Minister Rajesh Tope on Monday said people must follow COVID-19 safety protocols if the State is to avoid another lockdown.

The vaccination is free at government centres.

At the same time, he also defended the State's response to rising cases and pointed out that in terms of cases per million population, many States have fared worse.

University of Florida Emerging Pathogens Institute Director Doctor Glenn Morris, Jr. said the vaccine is a useful option for groups like highly mobile agricultural migrant workers.

Total confirmed COVID-19 cases in Mainland China now stand at 90,106.
