Federal prosecutors add sex trafficking charges against Ghislaine Maxwell

Jeffrey Epstein's alleged madame Ghislaine Maxwell

An amended indictment against Maxwell now covers alleged crimes stretching from 1994 to 2004 in NY and Florida, including accusations that she paid the girl, known as Minor Victim-4, hundreds of dollars for each sexual act with Epstein.

Ghislaine Maxwell at the WIE Symposium in New York City, on September 20, 2013.

Maxwell, who was Epstein's longtime associate and former girlfriend, faces new charges of sex trafficking conspiracy and sex trafficking of a minor in the eight-count indictment, as well as earlier charges that include perjury.

Maxwell was arrested last July in New Hampshire-nearly a year after Epstein was charged and detained.

Prosecutors said Maxwell would gain this victim's trust by asking her about family and other aspects of her life.

Maxwell was already facing six counts tied to Epstein's alleged sex trafficking network.

During the same period, Maxwell allegedly encouraged and enticed "the minor to recruit other girls to engage in paid sex acts with Epstein, which she did".

He killed himself at a Manhattan federal jail in August 2019.

Vaccine certification might only be implemented once all adults vaccinated: UK PM
Tory MP Steve Baker said it was a "ghastly trap" and unfairly penalised those advised not to have a vaccine. Baker questioned what will happen to pregnant women, who are now not advised to get vaccinated.

Maxwell's attorneys did not immediately respond to a request for comment. The indictment said Maxwell and Epstein had an intimate relationship during those years.

Maxwell normalized sexual contact with the girl by discussing sexual topics in front of her and being in her presence when the girl was naked in Epstein's massage room in h... "Minor Victim- 4 truthfully told both Epstein and Maxwell her age", reads the court documents.

It also added a fourth girl to the allegations, saying she was sexually abused multiple times by Epstein between 2001 and 2004 at his Palm Beach, Florida, residence, beginning when she was 14 years old.

Earlier this year, Maxwell's lawyers challenged the charges against her, saying they were obtained unjustly and didn't properly allege crimes.

The charges contained in a rewritten indictment returned by a grand jury in Manhattan federal court alleged that a conspiracy between financier Jeffrey Epstein's and his ex-girlfriend Maxwell occurred between 1994 and 2004.

In the new indictment, prosecutors with the Southern District of NY allege that Maxwell met Minor Victim-4 at Epstein's Palm Beach residence in 2001 when the latter was approximately 14 years old.

In a letter to a judge Monday, prosecutors acknowledged that the rewritten indictment may require defense lawyers to supplement their arguments to dismiss charges. Prosecutors also wrote that they will begin producing for Maxwell's attorneys copies of non-testifying witness statements by April 12, 2021, approximately three months before her trial is scheduled to begin.
