Premier Ford says don't make plans for Easter

The last time the province reported a daily case total above the 2,500 mark was on January 22, during the height of the second wave, when 2,662 infections were reported.

Earlier this week, the Ontario COVID-19 Science Advisory Table said in its report that ICUs have been facing a capacity crunch.

According to CBC News, the restrictions would not be as tight as the province-wide lockdown that was imposed in December.

The province's seven-day average for number of cases recorded is now 2,341, up from 1,794 one week ago.

Ontario Premier Doug Ford is warning people in his province to be prepared for another possible lockdown, as the coronavirus surges. Nearly 17,100 residents have been hospitalized because of the disease, and 7,389 have died from it.

Essential services will remain open with capacity limited to 50 per cent, while non-essential shops will be reduced to 25 per cent.

Police release video showing man attacking Asian American woman as witnesses watch
The NYPD Hate Crimes Task Force has shared the video on social media in hopes to get information that could lead to an arrest. Eight people were killed in a mass shooting at three spas in Atlanta on 16 March, and six of the eight were Asian-Americans.

Ford's comments come after a report shows there are now more COVID-19 patients in Ontario intensive care units than at any other point in the pandemic. Some outdoor activities would be permitted but indoor fitness facilities and personal care services are to be closed.

Brown said variants of concern are now the dominate strain of the virus in the province.

"Moving vaccination clinics in the communities, running them longer, a variety of techniques that although they can be challenging and hard, and require constant local adaption, can actually increase the payoff from the amount of vaccination we're doing".

The modellers have argued that school disruption should be "minimized" because they have an inequitable impact on students, parents and society.

The group said that COVID-19 hospitalizations are up by over 40 per cent over the past two weeks.

In that scenario, patios - which just re-opened in Toronto and Peel region, would close, while restaurants and bars would be allowed to remain open for take-out and delivery. "So it's a challenging trade off".
