African countries receive over 29 million Covid-19 vaccine doses

Fully vaccinated people can start traveling again if they take precautions such as wearing a mask and observing social distancing, U.S. health authorities said Friday.

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention updated its travel guidelines to say that fully vaccinated Americans can fly nationwide without much trouble.

The CDC says fully vaccinated people should keep following safety precautions in public, including wearing a mask.

The workers also underwent antibody tests to gauge the response of their immune systems to the vaccinations.

"It is an important step to further confirm the strong efficacy and good safety data we have seen so far, especially in a longer-term follow-up", BioNTech CEO Ugur Sahin said.

The COVID-19 vaccine developed by Pfizer and partnering biotechnology company BioNTech has proven "highly effective" against the coronavirus - including variants - for at least six months after full inoculation.

Americans with 2 COVID vaccine doses can travel, CDC says
Those who must travel should be tested one to three days before their flight and again three to five days after. Add travel to the activities vaccinated Americans can enjoy again, according to new USA guidance issued Friday.

Fully vaccinated people who are traveling internationally do not need to be tested for COVID-19 before leaving the United States unless their destination requires them to be, and they do not need to self-quarantine upon arriving in the country, federal health officials said. The ongoing research found the vaccine was 91.3% efficacious against the disease a half year after a second dose was administered.

The antibody response in these people remained 28-fold higher even after the second vaccine dose. For the study, the team conducted a survey of 1,090 healthcare workers at Cedars-Sinai who had received the Pfizer-BioNTech vaccine.

'I would not be surprised if this is a vaccine that we only get once'.

Although the new study did not look at the Oxford University/AstraZeneca vaccine, Prof Moss said the evidence for the jab is that "it's very, very effective".

'These mRNA vaccines - it really seems the level of antibodies they elicit are so high, they are persistent.
