The CDC's tweets this week are based on already existing CDC guidance for fully vaccinated individuals - meaning it's been two weeks since they received their second dose of the Pfizer/BioNTech or Moderna vaccines, or it's been two weeks since they received the single dose of Johnson & Johnson's vaccine.
Within the United States, vaccinated people will not have to quarantine or take a Covid-19 test after traveling, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention said.
In a statement, CDC Director Dr. Rochelle Walensky said, "With millions of Americans getting vaccinated every day, it is important to update the public on the latest science about what fully vaccinated people can do safely, now including guidance on safe travel".
However, the TSA said it was not lifting restrictions that bar most-non US citizens from the United States if they have recently traveled to China, Brazil, South Africa, and most of Europe.
Fully vaccinated people who are traveling internationally do not need to be tested for COVID-19 before leaving the United States unless their destination requires them to be, and they do not need to self-quarantine upon arriving in the country, federal health officials said. The agency cited "recent studies" of real-world evidence proving vaccines work outside of a clinical trial environment. However, they should have a negative COVID-19 test result before returning to the United States from another country and they should get tested again three to five days after arrival.
Two US Capitol police officers injured after suspect rams vehicle into barrier
Police closed several blocks of Constitution Avenue, the main boulevard running along the north side of the US Capitol building. One Capitol Police officer died as a result of the attack, as well as four others individuals who took part or were nearby.
Reuters reported that under the new guidance fully vaccinated people will not be required to get a Covid-19 test before or after travel and will not need to self-quarantine after travel.
"Some are starting to make exceptions for those who are vaccinated".
The CDC also recommends that people get tested three to five days after travel.
CDC also said those who are not fully vaccinated should avoid non-essential domestic travel.
