If You're Fully Vaccinated, a New Thumbs-Up

In its updated guidance, the agency still "recommends delaying travel until you are fully vaccinated, because travel increases your chance of getting and spreading COVID-19".

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention updated its guidance to say fully vaccinated people can travel within the US without getting tested for the coronavirus or going into quarantine afterward.

Unless required to do so by the worldwide destination, fully vaccinated people no longer require a test, and they no longer have to self-quarantine after returning to the US, unless required to do so by a state or local jurisdiction.

Domestic travelers who are fully vaccinated - meaning two weeks have passed since their second dose of the Pfizer-BioNTech or Moderna shot or their one and only Johnson & Johnson shot - do not need to self-quarantine upon arriving at their destination and "do not need to get tested before or after travel unless their destination requires it", according to the CDC.

They were released as travel is picking up again in the United States, especially due to spring break and Easter trips, after all but shutting down completely in the early months of the pandemic.

McGee denied those claims to The Post , saying he had no connection to the agency's probe into possible sex trafficking by Gaetz. Fox News host Dana Perino on Wednesday put House GOP leader Kevin McCarthy (R-CA) on the hot seat over revelations that Rep.

And, during Friday's White House briefing, CDC Director Rochelle Walensky, MD, MPH, said it would be better if vaccinated people stayed home.

"We haven't changed our guidance for nonessential travel at all".

Some travel guidance remains unchanged. "And so our update on this is really only for those who are vaccinated, and that represents about 20% of the adult population". The agency noted the potential introduction of virus variants and differences in vaccine coverage around the world for the cautious guidance on overseas travel. Transportation Safety Administration's numbers show more than 1 million passengers have passed through airport security almost every day in March. The agency cited "recent studies" of real-world evidence proving vaccines work outside of a clinical trial environment.

However, the agency still recommends that even fully vaccinated travelers wear a mask in public, and take other public health precautions, such as social distancing and avoiding crowds, and practicing hand hygiene.

The U.S. began its vaccine rollout in mid-December.
