Bryan, Texas mass shooting leaves at least one dead, others seriously injured, including state DPS officer

Bryan Police Department chief Eric Buske confirmed on Thursday that the shooting incident at Kent Moore Cabinets in Bryan, Texas, killed one and injured four, while another person was hospitalized after suffering an asthma attack.

The suspect was identified as Larry Bollin, 27, of Grimes County. Jail records showed Bollin was charged with murder and being held on a $1 million bond.

WPVI-TV reports that he is now being held on $1 million bond.

As of this posting, police are still searching for a suspect.

Local media sources claim several individuals suffered gunshot wounds and some are in critical condition.

"In a spread-out scene, and this is a fairly spread-out scene, it takes a lot of work and a lot of time to put it all together", Buske said.

Cops said Bollin fled before they arrived, but authorities tracked him to the small town of Iola, about 20 miles to the northeast.

Bryan is about 100 miles (160 kilometers) northwest of Houston.

Bryan Fire Department transported a total of six patients to area hospitals.

The victim's name has not yet been released.

On Wednesday, a former professional football player shot and killed a SC doctor, his wife, two grandchildren and another man before taking his own life. The suspect shot at police, leaving one DPS Tropper injured.

The Texas Department of Public Safety said that a trooper was shot in the incident, and he remains in "serious but stable condition".

The Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives sent dogs to the scene of the shooting, said spokesman Deon Washington.

The gunman used a handgun and acted alone, the Chief said.

The carnage in Texas was mirrored Wednesday night in SC, where former National Football League cornerback Phillip Adams fatally shot five people before turning the gun on himself, according to police. Witnesses also said the shootings appeared to be targeted.

Governor Greg Abbott issued the following statement. "Their efforts led to the arrest of the shooting suspect", Abbott tweeted. "Cecilia and I are praying for the victims and their families and for the law enforcement officer injured while apprehending the suspect".
