Protests break out over the shooting of Daunte Wright

Daunte Wright was shot and killed by Officer Kim Potter Sunday after he was pulled over for an expired registration tag on his license plate.

Police chiefs believe she accidentally used her gun instead of a Taser, with the officer recorded on body-cam saying "Holy s***, I just shot him" as Mr Wright managed to drive off.

The video touched off protests against racial injustice and police brutality in the United States and around the world.

In the body cam footage, police officers are seen pulling Mr Wright out of his vehicle after stopping him for a traffic violation and discovering he had an outstanding warrant. Wright's mother, Katie Wright, stands at center.

"No more policing, incarceration, and militarization", she said. "The growing number of Black men and women who have been killed or harmed by police is far too hefty a price for the equality we are seeking".

"We may not yet know all the facts, but we know that another man has died".

"Whether it be carelessness and negligence, or a blatant modern-day lynching, the result is the same".

"It's ridiculous", said the young man carrying it.

Daunte Wright was pulled over on Sunday for a traffic violation, but there was a struggle when he tried to get back into his vehicle. What appears to be a woman's voice shouts, "Taser, Taser, Taser", before a gunshot was sacked. This officer has been on the force for 26 years. National Guard troops were deployed. In 2000, more than 70 per cent of the city was white.

People drove by honking support at the handful of protesters across the street, or yelling toward the officers.

At least 200 protesters gathered Monday night in Southeast Portland to protest the police killing of a Black man in Minnesota.

Once Chauvin's knee was on Floyd's neck, Floyd uttered "I can't breathe" 27 times until he was no longer able to talk, Stoughton said.

"I lost my son". That could easily have been my son.

According to the Star Tribune, Daunte Wright is the sixth person killed by Brooklyn Center police since 2012. Activists at the press conference pressed Gannon and Brooklyn Center City Manager Curt Boganey to make a similar declaration, but they refused, citing an investigation.

The dilution process won't remove tritium from the water but could reduce other radionuclides to safe levels, it said. The steady release of even a small amount of radioactive material will have a lasting effect on marine life.

Elliott reiterated his position for Potter to be fired from the force.

Elliott spoke with President Biden on Monday about the events unfolding here.

"He was my life, he was my son and I can never get that back", she said on Monday.

However, he said that before the Brooklyn Center Police Department fires the officer, it will likely review all evidence, including any other body camera footage and testimony from other officers, so that the dismissal is less vulnerable to any court challenge.

"The question is: Was it an accident?"

President Joe Biden has called or a "full-blown investigation" and urged people to remain peaceful.

Biden then stressed that there is "absolutely no justification" for violence in protest or otherwise. "You know, that is unacceptable", Elliott said. "But it will not justify violence".

"I believe say di officer bin mean to use Taser but shoot am wit a single bullet", na wetin Chief Gannon tok e add say "Nothing wey I tok to fit lessen dis pain". I'll Tase you! Taser!

"I think we can watch the video and ascertain whether she will be returning", the chief said.

Earlier, she told how her son had called her during the traffic stop.

For nearby Minneapolis, tension bin dey high as di trial of one ex-officer wey dey face accuse of killing George Floyd still continue.

A defense attorney for Chauvin requested that, because of the shooting in Brooklyn Center, jurors in the case be sequestered.

"We're going to do everything we can to ensure that justice is done and our communities are made whole", he said. We recognise this couldn't have happened at a worse time. "But he - he was one of those people in the community that when they had church outside, people would attend church just because he was there". Ganguli, a special correspondent, reported from Brooklyn Center.
