San Jose Calif. Santa Clara County sheriff's spokesman said there are multiple fatalities and injuries in a shooting at a rail

"I can confirm with you right now that we do have multiple victims, and we have multiple casualties at this point".

The suspect is dead, he said.

Santa Clara County Sheriff's Deputy Russell Davis told reporters that there were "multiple fatalities" but that they would need time to say how many people were killed. The Santa Clara County Sheriff's Office confirmed on Twitter that the "shooter is down".

Police did not immediately give any details on how the shooter was killed, or about the type of weapon used.

San Jose Mayor Sam Liccardo wrote in a Tweet, "Our hearts are pained for the families of those we have lost in this horrific shooting".
