How to Watch the 'Ring of Fire' Solar Eclipse This Week

Amination of an eclipse

Yes, not many people live there, but a good portion of the globe will still get treated to a partial eclipse where the Moon appears to take a big bite out of the Sun. If the moon is at its closest point to Earth (called perigee) it can block out most of the sun's rays, creating a total eclipse.

The event will begin just before 10:00 BST when the Moon starts to pass between the Sun and Earth.

In the United Kingdom, the further north you are the more you'll see, so unfortunately Sussex residents shouldn't expect to see much.

Remember: Don't look directly at the sun!

Though few people will be able to witness the full ring of fire, millions across a larger stretch of the Northern Hemisphere will get to see a attractive partial eclipse.

In other places, including parts of the American East and northern Alaska, much of Canada, and parts of the Caribbean, Europe, Asia and northern Africa, viewers with eclipse-watching gear will see a crescent Sun, NASA reported.

We'll will instead be covered by the Moon's "outer shadow" or penumbra.

This causes the sun to appear as a very bright ring, or annulus, in a phenomenon dubbed as the "ring of fire". "For a sunrise eclipse, you need a position with a clear view to the horizon, like a hilltop or tall building".

Dr. Fauci's leaked 2020 emails reveal knowledge of lab-leak theory
But he said he thought the question warranted further investigation, not least because of the renewed public interest. Was there [a] virus in those people? None of the branches have a high level of confidence in their conclusion.

Another tip for seeing the partial solar eclipse is to head to a designated International Dark Sky Place, where the sky is protected from pollution.

We won't be thrown into complete darkness, some areas will see nearly a third of the Sun's light blocked by the Moon.

What section of the sun is blocked depends on your vantage point. Since there are objects closer to us in the foreground, our brains compare them to the rising sun, creating the illusion that it is larger near the horizon.

If you still have eclipse glasses left over from the last major solar eclipse in 2017, you can break them out for observing this one as well, if you like.

It is also not wise not to look at the Sun through binoculars, telescopes or a telephoto lens on an SLR camera.

Of course, to see the eclipse from the best locations and at the right time, the weather will have to cooperate-and it seems that will be tricky for some observers. "This produces spectacular sunrise colors but also means there's more chance of clouds blocking the view".

Anyone gazing skyward should only do so with the aid of protective viewing equipment, such as approved eclipse glasses or a pinhole projector.

And if you miss this event, additional opportunities to see a solar eclipse will occur in the coming years.

The total duration of the solar eclipse will be of 3 minutes and 51 seconds.
