President Biden's Oldest Dog Dies At Age 13

Champ The White House Dog Has Died

Joe Biden's family dog Champ has died, the president said Saturday, remembering the German shepherd as a "constant, cherished companion during the last 13 years". Champ has been living with the Bidens since 2008 and was reportedly named by the president's granddaughters.

Both canines returned to the White House in March after they were briefly sent to the Bidens' home in DE after Major nipped a Secret Service agent's hand.

Major and Champ were taken home to DE at one point, and Major went through training after the younger dog had two separate biting incidents at the White House and an unknown dog appeared to have pooed in a White House hallway.

Champ also helped to bring Major Biden, the family's younger German shepherd, into the mix.

Indias cumulative Covid-19 vaccination coverage crosses 240 mn mark
According to the Indian Council of Medical Research, 37,01,93,563 samples have been tested up to June 8 for Covid-19. The number of recoveries in the country went up to 2,76,55,493, pushing the recovery rate to 94.77%.

The arrival of both Champ and Major marked the return of pets to the White House after former President Donald Trump became the first since the 1860s to not have either a dog or a cat during his presidential term.

The Bidens could occasionally be seen walking their two dogs on the White House South Lawn, and the dogs sometimes would join the president on trips to Camp David or visits home to Delaware. That came after reports that Major bit a member of the White House security team and had been barking and lunging at other staffers.

In their statement, the family reflected on Champ's younger days and said the large dog enjoyed chasing golf balls and running after the Bidens' grandchildren. Biden announced Champ's death on June 19.

"In our most joyful moments and in our most grief-stricken days, he was there with us, sensitive to our every unspoken feeling and emotion", they added. There had been no reports of bad behavior from the older Champ. They starred in a Christmas video greeting from the Bidens, and were the subject of a children's book, "Champ and Major: First Dogs". "Wherever we were, he wanted to be, an everything was instantly better when he was next to us", they said.
