Fully vaccinated Canadians exempt from quarantine July 5

"If you are planning to travel internationally this summer, keep in mind to check the requirements of the country that you're visiting".

First off, these restrictions will only lift for travellers who are now permitted to enter Canada (Canadian citizens, permanent residents, persons registered under the Indian Act and some foreign nationals, as outlined under existing travel restrictions).

"It is the travellers' responsibility to plan ahead, to understand their obligations, and to ensure that they are eligible".

The measures announced Monday do not open Canada's borders to foreign nationals wishing to enter Canada for non-essential reasons.

In order to be considered fully vaccinated, travellers must have received a full series of a vaccine, or a combination of vaccines, accepted by the government.

A negative COVID-19 test taken within 72 hours of departure for Canada will still be required, as will a second test taken upon arrival in the country. This is the first step towards a vaccination passport, and the onus of using a digital program prompted questions to officials about the potential limitations this poses for those who are unable to utilize the technology. The government said fully vaccinated Canadian travelers who want to be considered for the quarantine exemption from quarantine and reduced testing requirements will be required to provide evidence of their vaccination status by uploading supporting documentation into what's called the ArriveCAN app or by signing in online at a government website. The new rules don't apply to tourists, and non-residents and partially vaccinated Canadians will still need to do the full quarantine. Entering fraudulent information into the app will result in fines of up to $750,000 or six months in prison.

Netanyahu ousted following Knesset vote
Bennett, a 49-year-old Orthodox Jew, will serve as premier for two years before Lapid, 57, a former TV host, takes over.

In a Sunday interview discussing travel restrictions, Blair said the "finish line" is when a significant majority of Canadians - approximately 75 percent - are fully-vaccinated.

Children under the age of 12 - who are not eligible to get vaccinated - will still have to quarantine for 14 days after travelling as they can transmit COVID-19, Health Minister Patty Hajdu said at a press conference on Monday.

"These cautious adjustments are now possible because of the successes of the vaccine roll out in Canada and Canadians following public health measures", it said in a statement.

Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau stood firm, saying last week the border would stay largely shut until 75% of Canadians had received the first of a two-dose coronavirus vaccine and 20% had been given both shots.

At this time, global flights will still only be allowed to land at four designated airports: Montréal-Trudeau worldwide Airport, Toronto Pearson worldwide Airport, Calgary worldwide Airport, and Vancouver worldwide Airport. Blair repeated land border crossings would remain closed to all but essential travellers until July 21 at least.

"Canadian communities whose jobs and livelihoods rely on tourism and companies that need to bring staff into the country for critical business functions will continue to feel the impact of these excessive restrictions", Beatty said.
