Sydney to mask up again after spike in COVID-19 cases

Just In: Sydney's Mask Restrictions Have Been Expanded and Extended

Passengers on two global flights between Australia and New Zealand are on high alert after potentially being exposed to coronavirus.

Visitors to the store on Sunday 20 June between 9.30am and 10am are also considered casual contacts and must get tested and isolate until negative result is received.

An update of the New South Wales and New Zealand travel bubble is expected this afternoon, the Prime Minister said today. Seven additional cases were detected after the 8pm cut off and will be included in Wednesday's figures. The face mask rule - which until now only impacted certain council areas, and was due to be lifted tomorrow at midnight - has been extended for another week, and now applies to the entire Greater Sydney area, including Wollongong.

The majority of new cases are based in the eastern suburbs: one is a worker at Bondi Junction who had "fleeting" contact with another case, while another is a child at an eastern suburbs school, which will be closed for deep cleaning.

Of the five, the two announced yesterday were both close contacts of previously reported cases and have both been in isolation.

NSW Premier Gladys Berejiklian said the case number will continue to grow as more household contacts of cases test positive in coming days.

President Biden's Oldest Dog Dies At Age 13
Champ has been living with the Bidens since 2008 and was reportedly named by the president's granddaughters. Champ also helped to bring Major Biden, the family's younger German shepherd, into the mix.

The seventh case is a child who attends St Charles Catholic Primary School in Waverley and the source of the infection is now unknown.

"I urge parents to wait for instructions from the school because we are keen to make sure that students and parents have access to testing and we want to make sure there isn't a rush with all parents descending on the school at the same time".

In terms of a potential NSW lockdown - keep an eye on new case numbers and whether they're linked to known cases.

A total of 28,645 tests were confirmed in the 24 hours to 8pm on Monday.

More locations were added to the list of coronavirus exposure sites on Tuesday afternoon.

Meanwhile, the Northern Territory has declared the Waverley and Woollahra local government areas COVID-19 hotspots, meaning anyone who arrives in the NT after visiting to those areas must quarantine at Alice Springs or Howard Springs facilities. However, unless you have symptoms or have been to a specific venue of concern, you don't need to isolate.
